How to Drive Traffic to Your Website from Social Media Social media is the most popular marketing tool used by small businesses and new entrepreneurs. It offers many possibilities for driving traffic to your website or blog so that your business can gain the attention of your target audience, increase your popularity/brand and sell more products & services. Why is Social Media important? Social media is where real people hang out and it is a large pond where you can “fish” for your ideal clients. How do you do this? Well, you need to attract them to your website. Here are three tips to drive traffic to your website from social media networks. 1) Share your website content on social media sites more than once. First off, after you’ve built up your social media pages/profiles for your business, it’s time to become active. The best way to drive traffic from your social media networks to […]
3 Mistakes AUTHORS Make When Promoting Online Hi, I’m Sharvette Mitchell, Creative Director for Mitchell Productions Web Design and Social Media Coaching where we help YOU build something amazing. This video (see below) deals with “Three mistakes I see authors making when it comes to online promotion.” 1) Start promoting NOW! Authors wait until the last minute to start promoting their book. They wait until the book comes out to start promoting online. Really, as soon as you know you’re going to be writing a book, you need to be out there promoting yourself, building your brand, getting acknowledged as a writer, as an author. You need to be building your connections on Facebook, Twitter, Periscope, wherever you hang out online. You need to be finding out where your readers hang out online and connect there. What Facebook groups are they in? What LinkedIn groups are they in? Those are the things that you want […]
3 Mistakes Speakers Make When Promoting Online Hi, it’s Sharvette Mitchell with Mitchell Productions Web Design and Social Media Coaching where we help you build something amazing! In this video (see down below) I discuss, “The mistakes I see speakers making.” One – No video footage… Okay, so mistake number one that I see for those that are speakers or wanting to be aspiring speakers is that they don’t have any video footage of them actually speaking. That, I think, is a mistake. Whenever you can, the next time that you speak, make sure you specifically have somebody use an iPad or use an iPhone and get a good video shot of you actually speaking. It’s going to help you get additional speaking gigs. It’s content you can put on your website, it’s content you can put on your blog and you absolutely want to put it in YouTube because you can get found for […]

Blog Compliments of Digital Well Publisher & Halona Black If you are an author, an emerging author, or even an entrepreneur with a great idea for a book, then you want to know how to harness the power of social media to grow your audience. One of the biggest mistakes I see authors make when creating their author platform is that they wait until AFTER the book is written to start thinking about how to market and sell their book. Unfortunately, that is almost too late. Why? Because so much of the outcome of your book marketing is wrapped up in how you started your book writing process to begin with. It is important that you get crystal clear on your target audience for your book. Ask questions like, who is going to buy and read your book? What do you want as a result of writing this book? […]
Personal Facebook Page Or Business Facebook Page? Knowing which method to use to market on Facebook will greatly increase the effectiveness of your social media marketing efforts. Using Your Personal Facebook Profile for Marketing Using a personal account can be effective if you have already built a following on your personal page. This is key for authors, speakers, coaches and consultants because YOU are the brand. Facebook’s privacy settings may limit what information perspective customers can see about your business prior to becoming your friend. Make sure you change some of your privacy settings to PUBLIC on your personal page and enable the “follow” feature! Many posts on personal pages get more exposure than those on a business page because your friends have been interacting with you there. Use that to your advantage! Creating a Business Facebook Page Facebook Fan Pages or Business Pages are great tools for both small and large businesses. Businesses can incorporate their […]

The importance of colors to your BRAND As I say often, BRANDING is largely about visibility and consistency. This relates to what people SEE in respect to your company, product, event or organization. Color plays a huge role in your overall BRAND because it is interwoven in your print marketing ( i.e. logos, business cards, flyers, brochures, banners, signage, product labels & etc.) and in your online marketing ( i.e. websites, social media cover images, online flyers, social media graphics, event flyers, blog images, email images & etc.) You should have consistent “BRAND” colors to reinforce your message and marketing. Here are five tips for choosing the right colors for your BRAND and using consistent colors to tie your BRAND together! 1) Choose your BRAND colors. I recommend that every company and organization have 2 main colors and potentially one accent color. Ideally you want to select your BRAND colors early on in the development of […]

Your listeners can talk back, sparking instant group conversations that were never before possible.” Check out my first wave and let’s follow each other!

Are brochures played out? [Video] Hi, guys. This is Sharvette Mitchell with Mitchell Productions Web Design and Social Media Coaching where we help YOU build something amazing. Today’s video blog is called Ask Sharvette, and so I have a great little question that came in, and I wanted to answer it. Here’s the question. Sharvette, do we still need brochures? Are brochures played out? I market online primarily and just wanted to know if I should invest in getting a brochure created. The answer to the question: Brochures are NOT played out. Brochures are still beneficial for your business, your organization, whatever it is that you are promoting. Most of us remember the trifold brochure that outlines your services, and your products and your contact information. They were very popular when we were doing a lot of in-person transactions and in-person networking. People always had brochures, but then you didn’t hear a lot about […]

4 building blocks to amazing website content When building an amazing website, a critical component is your website content. This is the information that will be displayed on your website to showcase what you have to offer the world! This information will need to come from you! Even if you hire a content writer ( which in most cases is not included in a web design package), the content writer will still need input from you on what you offer, services you provide and products you sell. Here are 4 tips for creating amazing content for your website project! 1) Gather a list of all of your services If you are a service provider (i.e. Life Coach, Speaker, Consultant, Business Coach, Accountant, etc), write down all of the types of services you currently provide. Come up with names of packages that people can purchase to obtain these services. Write a short description for all […]
Three Tips For Facebook Etiquette Per Wikipedia– Etiquette is a code of behavior that delineates expectations for social behavior according to contemporary conventional norms within a society, social class, or group. Ok so that may be a little wordy, but I think there are some “codes of behavior” that should be observed on Facebook. Here are MY 3 tips: 1) Don’t tag friends/people in posts, notes, videos, pictures, flyers & links in which it does not pertain to that person. This is specifically critical if you don’t personally know or interact with the person. In essence, you are using their exposure for your benefit. You are also saying that this person endorses your post, event or blog or whatever. Ladies and gentlemen, this is called advertising which you should pay for… 2) Be cautious about posting a link ( i.e. video link or link to your blog) on someone’s page and then requesting their feedback on […]
Update Your Facebook Short BIO, here’s how! The Facebook short bio is a great place for marketing and showcasing your company. While you may have a business page on Facebook, you should think about your personal page as a marketing tool as well by updating your Facebook short bio. Directly under your profile picture is a section called the “short BIO”. It holds about 100 characters of text and you can edit and update it as often as you like. This section is PUBLIC so anyone ( Friend or not) looking at your page can see what you put in the short BIO. This is a good thing! Here are suggestions of what to include in your Facebook short bio: Your company or organization name & your title Your slogan Website address (FYI- it won’t be a link but that is okay!) Upcoming event and event dates Current specials offered to your customers Business address Favorite […]

To save a post, click on the downward arrow to the top right of the post. A drop down menu will appear and “save post” will be in the list! Once you click this option & save the post, it will be kept in the “Saved” section on the home page of Facebook (over to the left hand side). Tip: Let your customers, clients and potential prospects know that they can save your posts for later when they have more time to review it or to share it! […]

The Facebook “Call-to-Action” feature! Have you seen or heard about the new “Call-to-Action” feature on Facebook Business/Fan pages? It is pretty cool if you ask me! Don’t worry, if you have not seen this option for your page, it is on the way… What is it? The “Call-to-Action” button is located at the bottom right of the Facebook cover image and it simply links your visitors to another site, page or video. Let’s face it… people are bombarded with information while online. If you want them to take some ACTION, make it as clear and simple as possible. The “Call-to-Action” feature does just that! How does it work? When Facebook enables this feature on your page, you will get to select the button you want to use ( Book Now, Contact Us, Use App, Play Game, Shop Now, Sign Up or Watch Video). After that you simply put in the appropriate link/URL and click […]

7 Tips for Building Your Support Network When you run your own small business, ministry or non-profit, you need the help of others in many ways. You need to grow a network of contacts, virtual help, colleagues, supporters and others who can help you with various aspects. But there’s another type of support you need as well. It’s also wise to build a more casual support network for knowledge, encouragement, advice and motivation. Understand Where You Need Help First of all, it’s good to know yourself. You should understand the warning signs when, for example, your confidence or motivation is starting to wavier. Know your own areas of weakness or things you need to work on. Family and Friends Family and friends are a great source of support, even when they have nothing to do with your small business, ministry or non-profit. In fact, they can be a great help because they’re not involved. They […]
