3 Mistakes Speakers Make When Promoting Online Hi, it’s Sharvette Mitchell with Mitchell Productions Web Design and Social Media Coaching where we help you build something amazing! In this video (see down below) I discuss, “The mistakes I see speakers making.” One – No video footage… Okay, so mistake number one that I see for those that are speakers or wanting to be aspiring speakers is that they don’t have any video footage of them actually speaking. That, I think, is a mistake. Whenever you can, the next time that you speak, make sure you specifically have somebody use an iPad or use an iPhone and get a good video shot of you actually speaking. It’s going to help you get additional speaking gigs. It’s content you can put on your website, it’s content you can put on your blog and you absolutely want to put it in YouTube because you can get found for […]

Anchor – New Social Media Platform I have been hearing a buzz about Anchor so I decided to check it out. It is a new social media platform available on iPhone that allows you to record 2 minute messages (called waves) that people then respond to. It is pretty cool! Per Anchor’s website: “Anchor is a free iPhone app that makes it easy to broadcast short audio clips to a global audience in seconds. Your listeners can talk back, sparking instant group conversations that were never before possible.” Check out my first wave and let’s follow each other!

Update Your Facebook Short BIO, here’s how! The Facebook short bio is a great place for marketing and showcasing your company. While you may have a business page on Facebook, you should think about your personal page as a marketing tool as well by updating your Facebook short bio. Directly under your profile picture is a section called the “short BIO”. It holds about 100 characters of text and you can edit and update it as often as you like. This section is PUBLIC so anyone ( Friend or not) looking at your page can see what you put in the short BIO. This is a good thing! Here are suggestions of what to include in your Facebook short bio: Your company or organization name & your title Your slogan Website address (FYI- it won’t be a link but that is okay!) Upcoming event and event dates Current specials offered to your customers Business address Favorite […]
Are you you using the Facebook save post feature? Have you ever been on Facebook and you saw an interesting article or link as you scrolled down your timeline but you don’t have time to look at it? Perhaps you saw an event and now you can’t find it! Well… Facebook has a “save” feature for posts that include links, pictures, status updates, videos or Facebook events. To save a post, click on the downward arrow to the top right of the post. A drop down menu will appear and “save post” will be in the list! Once you click this option & save the post, it will be kept in the “Saved” section on the home page of Facebook (over to the left hand side). Tip: Let your customers, clients and potential prospects know that they can save your posts for later when they have more time to review it or to share it! […]
The Facebook “Call-to-Action” feature! Have you seen or heard about the new “Call-to-Action” feature on Facebook Business/Fan pages? It is pretty cool if you ask me! Don’t worry, if you have not seen this option for your page, it is on the way… What is it? The “Call-to-Action” button is located at the bottom right of the Facebook cover image and it simply links your visitors to another site, page or video. Let’s face it… people are bombarded with information while online. If you want them to take some ACTION, make it as clear and simple as possible. The “Call-to-Action” feature does just that! How does it work? When Facebook enables this feature on your page, you will get to select the button you want to use ( Book Now, Contact Us, Use App, Play Game, Shop Now, Sign Up or Watch Video). After that you simply put in the appropriate link/URL and click […]

Social Media and the Part-Time Entrepreneur If you are a part-time entrepreneur AND a full-time employee, it’s hard to just drop your day job and focus only on your business because of several reasons. This means every minute of your time is precious and you don’t have as much time for your business as maybe others who are full time entrepreneurs. There are a few things you shouldn’t put aside when it comes to your business and one of them is social media. Here are my 5 social media tips for the part-time entrepreneur. 1. Get Your Business Out There No matter how much you believe it helps your business or not, you need to be out there on at least some of the social media sites such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram (definitely if you have a product), YouTube, LinkedIn and Pinterest. Why? Because customers are there and they expect you to be there as […]
Your NEW secret weapon … VIDEO! If you have been promoting on Facebook using the Fan pages/ Business pages, you have seen your “reach” decline. Facebook has now shifted to more of a marketing platform for those selling goods, services or products. You must admit, you can’t get free advertising anywhere so why would we expect Facebook to be any different. Let me tell you what I have personally seen that continues to get great exposure on Facebook… V I D E O. Not just any video, but videos that are loaded directly into Facebook versus shared from Youtube or other websites. I am sure you have seen videos in your timeline that automatically start playing as you scroll by. This typically grabs your attention, you hit unmute and you watch the video. This auto start feature only happens with videos that are directly uploaded to Facebook and it appears that Facebook allows the videos […]
Are you using the Facebook “Follow” feature? What is the follow feature? You can choose to allow people who aren’t your Facebook friends to see your PUBLIC posts in their News Feed. Instead of clicking on “Add Friend”, they can click on “Follow”. This is great because Facebook limits the number of “friends” we have to 5,000 so if you are near your limit like me, the Follow feature will allow those that want to connect with you another option to do so. In addition, some people want to know what is going on in your world but don’t necessarily need or want to be official “friends” on Facebook. Who should enable the follow feature? If you are promoting a product, book, CD, service, business, organization, event or ministry… you definitely need to have this feature enabled on your page! I must say, I have recently visited some pages that I wanted to follow but […]
