Lights! Camera! Live! -Facebook Live for Entrepreneurs
Video transcript
Hello, hello, hello everyone. Welcome. This is Sharvette Mitchell and I am so excited to have you jumping on to my Live. It’s Sunday. It’s a holiday weekend. You might be cooking out. You might be in the car. You might be sitting at home. You might be just leaving church, but I wanted to jump on really quickly and chat with you guys because I’m actually headed to my sister’s house and brother-in-law’s house to watch the movie “Get Out.” I haven’t seen it before, so I’m interested. I’ve heard a lot of buzz about it, so we’re going over there to watch that and to grab dinner, but I wanted to jump on and talk about Lights, Camera, Live, and I’m going to give you five tips. |
Those of you that are entrepreneurs, small business owners, or you want to be and you want to leverage Facebook Live, most people, most of the time their complaint or their gripe is, “I don’t know what I’m going to say. I don’t know what I’m going to do.” So I have five tips I’m going to share today of things that you can do on Facebook Live that will help promote you, help you with your Facebook marketing, get more eyes and attention on what you have to offer. |
Hey, Ronald. Thank you, brother. Thanks for joining us. I know that a lot of you will catch this in the replay and the replay viewers, you are just as important so thank you so much. Hey, girl. Hey, hey, Charnel. Thank you for joining. Hey, Michelle. Thanks for joining. Thank you for all of those that are joining us, and I’m going to give you five tips, five things that you can do as entrepreneurs, small business owners, full-time or part-time at this, of how to use Facebook Live, things you can do on Facebook Live. Hey, girl, hey. Michelle is there, [skirtsandpumps.com 00:01:50]. |
All right, so you want to hear it? Let’s go. Hey, Crista Lee, thank you for joining. Number one, my number one tip, the first tip I want to give you around using Facebook Live and you’re saying “I don’t know what to do,” the first thing you want to do is you can share advice, okay? So when you get on Facebook Live, you’re an entrepreneur, small business owner, one thing you can do is share advice or tips, and three works really well. So if you can come up with three things to share with your audience, that works really well. Now the power in that is that it helps showcase your expertise because people like to buy products and services from people they feel like they know what they’re talking about. So when you get Facebook Live like Crista Lee does it all the time. She’s on Facebook, she’s on Periscope, she’s a makeup artist, she does natural skin care products so she’s sharing tips and advice related to that. |
Hey Alicia, thanks for joining us. So if you’re taking notes, write down number one that you can share tips and advice with your audience. Again relate it to your area of expertise or relate it to your product or service, and if you’re a non-profit it could be related to a cause. If you’re in ministry it could be related to something, life coaching, spiritual whatever it is. Number one, share tips and advice. |
Number two, we’re talking about Lights, Camera, Live. You’re going live because Facebook Live is going to be one of the things that you’ve got to use in 2017 to get attention and attraction on your business. Hey Marla, thanks for joining. Hey Alison Lilly, thanks for joining. We want to see you on Live more Alison Lilly. |
Okay, number two, the second thing you can do with Facebook Live to promote and market your business is to do product demonstrations, so for those of you that have an actual physical product, you can do demonstrations. So you can get on Facebook Live and say, hey, I’m just picking up like randomly. Let’s say you have jewelry. I don’t have jewelry, this is just a necklace. You could get on Facebook Live and say, “Hey, this great necklace just came in my store. Check it out. Try something on.” So product demonstration, number two, that’s the second thing you can do if you have physical products, okay? You can do a product demonstration on Facebook Live, any kind of physical product. |
Now you can, if you had virtual products, you can do that as well because you could turn your camera around and show them the computer screen or what have you, but for those of you that have physical products, yes. Greetings, thanks Celeste. You want to do product demonstrations. All right, you all ready for number three? |
Number three, the third thing you can do utilizing Facebook Live, we’re talking about Lights, Camera, Live, and you as entrepreneurs and small business owners, utilizing this part of Facebook which is going to get the most exposure for you outside of paying for ads is Facebook Live. Number three, event spotlights, okay? This works really well, event spotlights. I’m going to take Alison Lilly, who’s on here, as an example. She’s an artist. She has a single out. |
She goes somewhere to sing, she could have someone record a Facebook Live of her singing or before she actually goes to an event, she can jump on Facebook Live, tell people where she is, what’s going on, or she could jump on Facebook Live after the event and do an event recap. That works really well so you just recap what happened at the event, what went on at the event, and what that does is it keeps eyes and attention on you, and people will know, “Oh, she can sing.” |
You could do that with any kind of event. You don’t have to be a singer. It could be you’re speaking. It could be that you’re going to be a vendor, especially those of you that have products and you’re vending at places. You can do an event spotlight and just recap what happened and bring people along for the ride. People want to come along with you at the story really of your life, the story of your business and Facebook Live lets you bring people along. |
All right, are you all getting that? We’re on number three, so let me recap because we got some new people that joined. We got some new people that joined. Let’s see, Celeste, you have a comment here, “It bothers me when some performers say they forgot to put the info on social media.” Oh yeah, so yeah, those of you that are artists and performers, you want to always promote on Facebook where you’re going to be because that’s how people are going to support you. |
So let’s recap. We’re talking about Lights, Camera, Live, how you can utilize Facebook Live for those that are entrepreneurs and small business owners. So number one, you want to share tips and advice, okay? Three is a good start. I’m doing five. Some people do seven. Some people do 21. So as much content as you have but three is a good place. |
Number two, I said you can do product demos so if you have a physical demo, you can get on Facebook Live and demonstrate the product. If it’s jewelry, now I don’t have jewelry, but this just happened to be right here. You could get on and say, “Hey, I’ve got this new necklace. You can wear it this way, you can wear it whatever.” You all get it. |
Number three, I said do events spotlights, so if you’re going to an actual event, then jump on Facebook Live and turn into a journalist. Turn into a journalist and tell people what’s going on, show them the room as you’re walking in. All of that builds rapport with your audience, okay? |
Hey, [Euleka 00:07:30], thanks for joining. All right, we’re going to number four. We’re going to number four, so the fourth thing you can do on Facebook Live Lights, Camera, Live is you can do interviews. This works well if you are again in-person so you’re either meeting customers. This is great for testimonials. You’re going to be vending somewhere. You’re going to be speaking somewhere. You’re going to be singing somewhere. So you’re going to be somewhere or you are somewhere where the customers interacting, so some of you have actual physical locations. |
So I’m going to put Michelle Smith on the spot. She is the owner Before and After Hair Salon, so she physically sees her clients. They come in so she could if she wanted to do a quick interview that could be like a testimonial of a client that’s getting her hair styled or maybe they changed their hair, or they purchased one of her t-shirts Skirts and Pumps and what it meant to them. It’s almost like a little customer interview but it also can be a testimonial, so that’s the fourth way … we’re on number four … that you can use social media Facebook Live is interviews. |
All right, so let me see. Charnelle has a comment: “A lot of Facebook Live, the picture doesn’t come in good on certain phones. That turns me off. I will click it off if the picture is not clear.” That’s a very valid point. If the picture is not clear or the audio is not clear, you will lose viewers so a lot of times that has to do with probably the WiFi, the area that they’re in or sometimes the phone. Sometimes it’s just as simple as cleaning off the camera where people can actually see, clearing that off. But most times it really has to do with the WiFi connection so if you have a poor WiFi connection, let me give you a tip, okay? Let me give you a tip. If you have a poor WiFi connection, and Michelle says, “Confirmation. I just had this conversation with my coach.” There you go. See? Out of the mouths of two or three. |
So, if you have a poor connection but there’s some video that you want to capture, simply pull your phone our, Android or iPhone, go into your pictures and just record a video. Don’t worry about going live if you don’t have a good connection. Record the video on your phone and then you can still upload the video to Facebook. Now it’s not a Facebook Live but still Facebook loves native video, video that lives on their platform so you don’t want to miss that video opportunity if the WiFi is acting up and keeps dropping you. So hopefully that is helpful. |
Hey Kimberly, thank you. Glad you’re enjoying this information. All right, so let’s recap. Lights, Camera, Live, and actually this is a module that’s in my academy, the academy for entrepreneurs, the Facebook academy of entrepreneurs. I’m actually giving you a snippet of what’s in that actual module and the module is called Lights, Camera, Live. So let’s recap. I’m going to give you five tips … we’re at number four … of how to use Facebook Live for those that are entrepreneurs, small business owners to help market on Facebook. |
So I said number one, share tips and advice. Number two, product demos. You actually have a physical product, you can demonstrate it, jewelry, what have you. Number three, we said events spotlights. Yeah guys, I just make sure I don’t lose any juicy nuggets so I have my notes written down. Events Spotlights, number three. Hey Jerome, Brandon, God bless you, Bishop. Number four, event interviews. Do interviews either customers or wherever you are physically interview people. |
Then now we’re going to number five but before I go to number five, I want to share just a little bit about the academy because I feel that those of you that clicked on this and now are checking this out, the Facebook for Entrepreneurs Academy is something that you need in your life. It kicks off and it launches on Friday, June 2nd. It’s virtual so you can be anywhere in the world. I was talking to a lady at a speaking event on Saturday in Richmond, Virginia and there was a lady there from South Carolina. She said, “But I’m in South Carolina.” I said, “No problem. The academy is virtual. So long as you have internet access, you’ll be able to get in on the six weeks.” |
I take you through a six-week course in the academy, myacademy.biz, and I’ll drop the link below. It’s also on my page but myacademy.biz is specifically for entrepreneurs and within six weeks I’m going to show you how to discover how you can market on Facebook and generate revenue. That’s what we’re here for. |
Okay, so let me go to number five. Let me go to number five. The fifth thing you can do on Facebook Live is if you are a blogger, so let’s say you have a website and you have articles, you have blog posts, or, or you look at Google a lot, you run across articles, what you can do is jump on Facebook Live and share information and highlights from a blog post either that you wrote or that you found, okay? Either you wrote it, hey Sharon, or that you found it. |
Now those of you that are blogging, this is great because you’re basically doing the work once but you get to share it twice because you wrote up the blog, that was the first time and you shared it … hey Amy … you shared it on your actual blog. Now bring that blog, make it come alive by jumping on Facebook Live and literally you can have your notes or you can have your computer screen up and say, “Hey guys, I just did a blog post about such-and-such, and I just wanted to give you the highlights.” Basically just go through the highlights of the blog post that you’ve already written, or if you found a blog, so if you’re saying “I don’t have a blog. I’m not really a writer,” you can go to Google. |
Let me tell you, Google is your friend. Yes, you can go to Google and type in anything and look for articles that are related to your product or your service. So let’s just say, let’s just take for example you sell jewelry. Let’s just say you sell jewelry. You say, “Well, I don’t really have a blog post about jewelry,” but you could look for what are the summer trends, what are the fashion trends, so not only do you just sell jewelry, you should turn into a consultant for your customer. And now should be able to consult with them and say okay, I’m going back to this little necklace that’s been hanging out here. |
Okay, I sell this necklace, hypothetically. This would go great against black. This will go against with denim. This will go great with a t-shirt, a dressy skirt. So you turn into a fashion consultant. Well you can find articles for days about just fashion trends and then tie that into your product. |
All right, Michelle says, “Yes, Google is like gold.” I’m trying to tell you. Charnelle say, “Yes.” Hey cuz, Jacqueline Mitchell Robinson. That’s my cousin. All right, so that’s how you can do, that’s the fifth tip around jumping on Facebook Live, utilizing a blog post either you have already written or if you haven’t written or if you don’t blog, going to Google, looking up an article that’s related to whatever you offer and then just recapping the article. There you go. |
Michelle said, “I graduated from Google University.” Listen, I got a degree from Google as well. So, that’s it. Those are my five tips so for those of you who are scared, you’re like, “I’m about to push that go live button. I just, I don’t feel like I have anything to say or I don’t think it’s anything that, I don’t know if anyone will listen.” |
Let me tell you, somebody will listen to you. Somebody needs to hear your voice, okay? Somebody needs to hear what you have to say and somebody will hear it. So that’s it. Yes, great, I’m glad Michelle that you enjoyed that again. Jump over to myacademy.biz. I’ll put the link in the comments but hopefully I want you to see you implement some of these and in-box me and say, “Sharvette, I was on your Facebook Live and I did tip number three or I’m going to try tip number one” but go ahead and implement. |
Hey Anna, thank you for joining. Implement at least one thing. Don’t be overwhelmed. Don’t be overwhelmed. Hey Raymond Cottman, thank you for joining us. I went to his play last night, “BloodStained Couch.” On my goodness, the acting was so … the writing and the acting was phenomenal. So implement at least one thing. Don’t get overwhelmed. Don’t say, “Oh my goodness. I took a whole piece of notes from Sharvette, two, three pages of notes,” and then you let your book sit on your nightstand or you let it sit on the kitchen, couch, or you can’t find it or whatever. Implement one thing, okay? |
Hey Amy. Thank you Teresa. She said, “This is good stuff.” Implement one thing, okay, and then move on because what happens, this is what happens when people get overwhelmed, they do nothing. That’s what happens. When people get consumed with information and they get overwhelmed, then they don’t do anything and that’s not what I want you to do. Even though I gave five tips, work on one tip. A lot of you that are here right now on this Facebook Live that you may have never interacted with me before but this Live caught your attention. |
Bless you Pastor Kirkpatrick. Thank you for joining us. Or you may have never clicked or commented on anything that I’ve done on my page but this Facebook Live caught your attention because you saw the notification. So implement at least one thing. All right, I’m going to let you all go because I’m on my way to dinner with my sister and brother-in-law and mother and we’re going to watch “Get Out.” I’ve never seen it. I’ve heard a lot about it, and I know you guys have a lot going on. |
