Today was one of those moments that made me pause and soak in the journey.
On July 12th, 2025, I had the distinct honor of being recognized at the Gracefully Becoming Awards Ceremony, presented by Something Delightful Empowerment for Women. Held on the historic campus of Virginia Union University, this event celebrated women who are walking in purpose, leading with grace, and making meaningful impact in their communities and beyond.
I was named the sole recipient of the SDEFW Influential Business Award.
Let me read you what the award says:
“We hereby present Sharvette Mitchell. This award is in recognition of your mastery of business, leadership, teaching, coaching, and mentoring skills. You exhibit exceptional qualities and have broken barriers, redefined success, and paved the way for future generations.”
Whew. That line—“paved the way for future generations”—hit me the hardest. Because, truthfully, that’s what this journey has been about.
Whether I’m providing team building or leadership training, helping a seasoned leader build her platform or personal brand, or teaching strategies inside The Platform Builder® Program, my mission has always been clear: to make space for women to rise confidently, profit boldly, and lead visibly.
The Gracefully Becoming Awards also honored incredible women in the Aging Gracefully category (eight honorees) and the Gracefully Becoming category (four honorees). Each woman had a powerful story, and I was deeply inspired to be in such impactful company.
To the organizers at Something Delightful Empowerment for Women ( Sherronda Ross-Brown, Director) —thank you for seeing me, for creating this space, and for honoring the quiet grind and bold leaps so many of us take.
And to every woman reading this: Keep becoming. Keep building. Keep believing. Your impact is unfolding—even when you don’t see it yet.
