Are brochures played out? [Video]
Hi, guys. This is Sharvette Mitchell with Mitchell Productions Web Design and Social Media Coaching where we help YOU build something amazing. Today’s video blog is called Ask Sharvette, and so I have a great little question that came in, and I wanted to answer it. Here’s the question. Sharvette, do we still need brochures? Are brochures played out? I market online primarily and just wanted to know if I should invest in getting a brochure created.
The answer to the question: Brochures are NOT played out. Brochures are still beneficial for your business, your organization, whatever it is that you are promoting. Most of us remember the trifold brochure that outlines your services, and your products and your contact information. They were very popular when we were doing a lot of in-person transactions and in-person networking. People always had brochures, but then you didn’t hear a lot about brochures as we moved to the online world and people were marketing services and products online.
Here is my recommendation… transition your brochure to work for you online, as well as offline. For instance, I have what’s called an information sheet. I don’t have it in the trifold format, but it’s a two sided information sheet. I’ve got information on the front about web design prices, I’ve got FAQs, I talk a little bit about my services, and it’s great, and it’s printed out in color.
I also have that information sheet available as a link to download from my website. This is what I have found, when I’m meeting with people in person, it is great for us to look at the same thing, discuss what’s on there, and everyone is looking at the same information. It also works great online when people reach out to me and ask me questions about my services. Yes, all of my information is on my website, but it’s great to just send them a link and they can download this information sheet.
You may hear people say, information sheets, brochures or if you are a speaker, you will hear about the speaker one sheet. That is all still relevant and so you want to think about how you use it offline and also how you use it online. I have found when working with potential web design clients, if they have a brochure or information sheet already done, that’s sixty five to seventy percent of their website content. By creating the brochure, it made them sit down and think about, “OK, who’s my customer? How can I help them? What services am I offering?” They’re able to articulate that because they spent the time to put together a brochure.
I recommend that you still get a brochure and you will find that it will be beneficial for you online, as well as offline.
